Paolo Scavino is a long-standing family winery in the Barolo region. It was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto from Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo. Farming has always been a family tradition and passion: today, Enrico Scavino together with his daughters Enrica and Elisa, who represent the fourth generation, run the family estate.
The most remarkable thing about Enrico Scavino is that even today, this man ever longs to make better Barolos. Generations at the helm of his family estate have already proven him a leader in the qualitative advances that have occurred in the Barolo area. And yet, he has never stopped the experimentation that has always kept him on the avant-garde of the Langhe area.
So, it is not surprising if Paolo Scavino is one of Italy’s greatest estates nowadays, with holdings in some of finest Barolo “cru”, including Cannubi, Bric del Fiasc, Rocche dell’Annuziata and Monvigliero, just to name few of them. Along with other producers, Scavino is surely responsible for the great reputation Piedmont has today and since the 1980s, he has been crafting benchmark Barolos. Their work is inspired by the love and respect they have for their territory and they pursue purity of expression, complexity and elegance for their wines.
All the vineyards owned by the Scavino family are entirely in the Barolo area and works with 20 Barolo historical vineyards located in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d’Alba, Verduno and Roddi. The meticulous care of the vineyards and passion for terroir, along with their core beliefs about the supremacy of the viticulture above the oenology, are the focus in order to grow ripe and healthy grapes. In winemaking minimal and equal intervention are sought to preserve the natural diversities of each vineyard.
