THE STORY OF A FINE WINE EXPERT

I was born and raised in Alba, in a region where some of the world’s finest wines are produced. But Piedmont is also one of the best and most prestigious regions of Italy in terms of gourmet cuisine and has one of the highest concentrations of Michelin-starred restaurants. These are definitely two reasons that explain my deep passion for fine wines and gourmet food.

THE BEGINNING & THE BACKGROUND

I have spent most of my childhood summers at my uncles’ winery in Barbaresco, where likely my interest in wine started when I was a kid, and from there I began my very long journey in the world of wine that have taken me where I am nowadays.

I have been studying and working in the wine world since the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. My educational background includes studies at the prestigious Institute of Viticulture and Enology in Alba, which counts many of the most celebrated Italian wine producers amongst its alumni, a Bachelor's Degree in Viticulture and Enology at the University of Turin, a Sommelier Certificate and a Master of Science in International Business Management at the International University of Monaco, ended with a Master's Thesis concerning the International Market of Fine and Investment Grade Wines.

MY WORLDWIDE WORK EXPERIENCE

My expertise and skills about fine wines come also from my extensive work experience in some important and prestigious wineries in several wine regions of the world, such as New Zealand (Marlborough region), California (Napa Valley), Australia (Margaret River region) and France (Burgundy and Bordeaux), other than Italy (Barolo and Barbaresco areas). Work for some prestigious wine properties, visit some of the most famous ones in the world, see most of the greatest and rarest wines kept in original wooden cases and in perfect condition, taste them and "breathe" the atmosphere of luxury and perfection surrounding them have contributed to raise my enthusiasm and passion for fine wines as well as the interest for excellence and distinction.

In particular, the time spent in Bordeaux and Burgundy allowed me to discover their very different perspective and exclusive approach of the wine business compared to any other wine region: especially in Bordeaux, the trade structure is made of wine merchants, called négociants, through which the Châteaux sell their wines worldwide. This is a particular and unique commercial system that have been operating in that French wine region for as long as wine has been produced there.

NOWADAYS & MY OWN BUSINESS

In 2015, I founded my own business, Terroir Selection, in order to provide wine professionals, wine collectors and wine enthusiasts with the best Italian wines: the mission is to make both the most famous Italian labels and the rising star producers more easily available on the world market for customers, because I have always believed that great Italian wines deserve much more international attention and recognition.

The connection between Fine Wines and exclusive bike travel adventures happened naturally, as several international wine professionals and a lot of wine enthusiasts are really good cyclists too. That is why I also decided to develop this branch of my business and offer unique bike experiences, where fine food does not lack as well.

Through my expertise and experience, I would like to share my passion and spread my love for the best Italian wines with all the clients, whether they are wine professionals, wine collectors or simply wine enthusiasts. And if they are cyclists, we can go even beyond thanks to fantastic bike adventures…
