Albino Rocca

Barbaresco, Piedmont

The history of this family owned estate starts in the mid 1940’s when Albino Rocca’s father Giacomo initially sold grapes from family vineyards. In the 1960s, thanks to the inheritance of some of the most precious vineyards, Albino Rocca was able to start making his own wines: his hard work and the strong support of his son Angelo laid the foundation of a family winery that has grown internationally over the years to become the world-class winery of nowadays.

All the wines are from estate vineyards and are all located within the boundaries of the Barbaresco wine region. Sustainable viticulture, respect of each grape variety and continuous research of the highest quality are core aspects of Albino Rocca. The Barbarescos come from some of the noblest single vineyards, such as Ronchi, Ovello, Montersino and Cottà.

Today, the three Angelo’s daughters, Paola, Monica and Daniela, along with his son-in-law Carlo have unhesitatingly taken up the winemaking and moral legacy of their father Angelo and they keep making wines that express the characteristics, purity and elegance of the terroir. All of the wines are aged in large oak casks and they are not just recognizably linked with the territory of Barbaresco but they also reflect the passion of this talented family as acknowledged by the Italian press as well as some of the most influential wine critics.

“Albino Rocca is one of the most intriguing estates in Barbaresco right now.” Antonio Galloni, Vinous
